Broward College Lyft Ride Program

Broward College has partnered with Lyft to assist students that are experiencing transportation challenges. Eligible students can receive Lyft ride credits that will be accessible through their Lyft mobile app.

Eligibility criteria

Students must be currently enrolled or have taken classes in the past two semesters.

Ride credits can only be used if the ride begins or ends from one of the following approved campus locations:

If approved, you will be sent a Lyft promo code valid for the equivalent of either $80 dollars (that expires at the end of the calendar month) or $225 (that expires at the end of the semester).

Promo code eligibility is determined based on students’ needs and SOS staff approval.  Apply the promo code in your Lyft mobile app to begin redeeming the program ride credits.

If you encounter a problem with your Lyft code when setting up your first ride please call 954-201-4SOS (4767) for assistance. If you encounter a problem with your code at the end of the ride please use the help button (at the bottom of the profile) in the Lyft app for assistance.

Go to the app store to download the Lyft app for iPhone or Android. Already have it? Make sure to update to the latest version of the app.

FAQs

You can purchase a pre-paid gift card or Lyft gift cards at your local supermarket or convenience stores.


Your code will not cover tips. You will have to pay out of pocket if you chose to do so. 100% of the tips go to the driver. Please go to Lyft Help website for additional information.

You will be charged a $5 no show fee. This fee is not covered by Broward College Lyft Ride Program. You may set up another ride through your app.

You are responsible for all additional fees if your rides surpass the allotted credit and will have to pay the difference.

You can request an eligible ride if your destination ends or begins at one of our approved locations.(Ex. You can get a round trip ride from home to campus for a Food Distribution event or to pick up a loaner laptop.)

Please call SOS college wide phone number at 954-201-4SOS (4767) if the code does not work at the beginning of the ride or go to the Help Button in the Lyft app if the code does not work after the ride is over.

Due to COVID-19 Lyft is not permitting anyone to ride in the front seat. For more information read the Lyft Safety policy.
