Student Support Fund | COVID-19

Thank you for your interest in Broward College's SOS Student Emergency Support Fund. We received an overwhelming amount of interest and are currently not accepting more applications for this award.

Please understand that the Federal CARE Acts grant is different from the previously allocated SOS Student Emergency Support Funds.

While we have allocated all the SOS Student Emergency Funds the college put aside to support our students, the Federal CARES Act funds have been made available. The grant is available to Broward College students who were enrolled in spring 2020 and meet the following criteria:

  1. Enrolled in spring term sessions 1, 3, or 4 in a Title IV eligible degree. Title IV degrees are approved Financial Aid programs of study. To view the list of programs, click here. Students who withdrew from sessions 1, 3, or 4 before March 13, 2020, are not eligible for the grant.
  2. Has a 2019-20 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file. If you have not completed a FAFSA, you still have time. FAFSA completed by June 1, will be considered for the grant.
  3. Maintained Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for spring 2020. SAP includes a minimum of 2.0 cumulative (Financial Aid) GPA; successfully complete at least 67 percent of all credit hours attempted; be on track to complete their degree requirements within 150 percent of the credits required for the program (i.e., less than 90 credits for a 60 credit AA program). You can review additional details on SAPs here.
  4. Resubmitted a statement of educational purpose and have their Social Security Number (SSN) verified if required.
  5. Not a Dual Enrolled or Early Admission student during spring 2020.
  6. Does not owe Pell overpayment and not in default on federal student loans.
  7. Has additional expenses related to the disruptions of campus operations due to COVID-19
If you meet these criteria, please complete the application link below by June 15, 2020. Your application will be assessed, and your eligibility for award determined. Awards will vary from a minimum of $150 to a maximum of $850 and will be determined based on need.

We know that many of our students have faced challenges during this pandemic, and Broward College stands ready to continue to support you in your academic goals. We are here for you and look forward to welcoming you this summer and fall.
