Being able to compose and play music is a gift—whether your talent is your voice, percussion,
brass, wind or string instruments. But even singers who possess the gift of song and musicians who skillfully play their instruments need proper training, instruction and mentoring. The Music program at Broward College provides just the kind of musical tutelage that shapes exceptional musicians. Explore our Music associate’s degree program or simply take a beginner class if you have always wanted to learn to read and play music.
Broward College’s Music curriculum focuses on helping you develop a wide array of skills as a musician, and prepares you for entry into a four-year postsecondary institution if you wish to pursue your bachelor’s degree in Music. Many of our graduates have been accepted to widely acclaimed university music programs, most notably at Berklee College of Music, Florida State University and the University of Florida.

Part of the joy in being a Music major is sharing your passion with others through performance. As a Broward College Music student, you can showcase your talents in five different ways:
Performances are held at Bailey Concert Hall on A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie, Florida.
Broward College’s Music program consists of faculty members who are graduates of the University of Miami, Florida State University and Hofstra University, to name but a few. They have contributed their musical skills to such artists as Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Boys II Men and the Miami Philharmonic Orchestra, New Philharmonic Orchestra and Florida Chamber Orchestra. Musical and opera productions our faculty has been involved in include “The Sound of Music,” “La Boheme,” and “Aida.” Some faculty have also been recipients of the John F. Kennedy Award of Excellence, the Broward College Provost Award, in addition to placing in the top at several national competitions. Their collective professional experience as musicians offers valuable mentoring opportunities and guidance to our Music program.
Broward College is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) to award associate’s degrees in Music.
The Music program is also an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

Learn How to Skillfully Capture Sound
The music business is a vital part of South Florida’s ever-growing and vibrant entertainment market. If you have a love of music, a burning creative streak and a desire to create the music that transforms our world, Broward College’s new Music Technology program offers the ideal training grounds. Our program is unique in the world of music production in that we expand your horizons beyond the technical aspects of production. We provide the foundational elements of musical performance to complement your training as a producer and technician.
The Music Technology program, which is an accredited, 24-month Associate of Science (AS) degree program, includes a 15-credit Music Production Technology certificate that is included in your tuition. Enroll today and master the skills you will need to create and record works of power and enduring beauty.
The Music Technology AS degree consists of 64 credits and can be completed in two years. The accompanying Music Production Technology certificate is 15 credits and is part of the AS degree. Courses are focused on the following elements of the music production industry:

Classes are conveniently offered in the day or evening, with online course options as well. Class sizes are small and internships are available.
Part of the experience of music production is being able to go out on the field and apply what you have learned in the classroom. Broward College’s Music Technology program partners with local industry leaders and companies so you can get firsthand knowledge of life as a music producer and technician. We offer internships with the opportunity to work under the supervision of skilled music industry professionals to all students enrolled in the program.
